Potential Future Baby Names

Yesterday I met a boy named Deg. Can we just stop for a second and reflect on the awesomeness of that name? Apparently it's Irish, even though he isn't. I asked if he liked or disliked growing up with that name, and the confusion that inevitably accompanied it. He said he'd always been proud of his name, and despite teachers/new friends/telemarketers having problems with it, he's never minded spelling it out for people, clarifying. He said actually, he liked to make little mnemonics, such as "like egg but with a 'D' at the beginning" to help with pronunciation (apparently, even after hearing him say it AND spell it, some people still had trouble getting it).

So this got me thinking about cool baby names, and the ones I've been saving up. Sometimes together with a boy to match his last name, and sometimes just because the name sounds nice to me. You know when you feel like you've forgotten something, but when you try to remember, you have no clue at all so you have to finally conclude you must have just made it up? That's how I feel about this list. Every time I sit down and think about it, i feel like I used to have a longer list, but can never remember them. So in the name of bad memory, and new blogging material, here is my list of Potential Future Baby Names:

-Deg
-Marie (My sister's, and Caitlin's middle name)/Maria

A lot of these names came from kids that I've worked with, or people I've met in my life. Likewise, there are a few names I probably would have liked but for the people I associate them with. Not that I especially dislike those people, the name will just be inexplicably tied to that person. Other names sound pretty but conjure up images/thoughts/memories i don't absolutely love. That, plus the grandeur and pomp that accompany some of the following, have led to my list of Names I Like But Probably Would Never Actually Use, Except on Pets and Stuffed Animals:
-Guillaume
-Kismet
-Lwellyn
-Devorah
-Reuven
-Kasiya
-Asya (pronounced Asia)
-Eridanus
-Ariadne
-Artemis
-Daedalus
-Psyche

-Aïsha/Oiche
-Trinity/Trinidad/Trini
-Luna
-Clara
-Lily
-Piper

Looking at this list, I appear to really like As, Es, Is, and LLs. And mythological/biblical names. I guess it's cause those vowels, especially combined, make really soft sounds. And I really like old-fashionedy stuff anyway, like victorian era and Amish sounding. And I've always loved mythology.

I don't know whether to pity or envy my future children.

PS please feel free to suggest more names!

Caillou
like that one cartoon kid?

and that one other name... you're dooming your kid to be nicknamed "cereal" by all of his teachers.

Just think about it. This is coming from the girl with the name that all the kids in middle school thought was spelled "DYING"

yeah, that cute cartoon!

and cyrielle is a girl's name, but i think being called cereal could be cute. how many nicknames could you get? people would call you coco and lucky and frosted flakes and cheerios and whatever else

pshh i'd even call my kid something cute like that

ha and i got misspellings too, don't ask how. here i thought betsy was an easy name...
